HelpAge Advocacy Network Uganda (HANU) was officially founded in 2023 following the localisation of HelpAge International’s Uganda operations. The formation of HANU was necessary to fill the gap left behind by HelpAge International, which had been a key player in advocating for the rights and welfare of older persons in Uganda. The decision to establish a national network was made to ensure the continuity of advocacy, support, and services for older people, especially as the aging population continues to grow and face challenges in accessing essential services.
